"Jesus Chocolate Christ this pale ale is opaque" -T.B.
Ok, obviously pale ale is not necessarily pale in color. This one, for instance, was pale in flavor. Like the other offerings from Great Divide, this one had a strong molasses smell as it was opened and poured. It was a typically hoppy flavor, but lacked anything unique such as a citrus flavor or the distinct caramel falvor of the Great Divide Hot Shot ESB. What it didn't lack was a lot of carbonation. This is not one you need to worry about going flat over the course of the half an hour or so that you might be drinking it. In fact, it actually burned a little going down. I kind of like that. I think I would buy this one again perhaps if for no other reason than to give it another try at a higher rating. We had quick taste reviews across the board between the three of us on this one and the 5.5 seemed like a good compromise.
